The Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Safe Tourism Certificate program will be updated in 2023 as the Safe and Green Tourism Certificate, supporting sustainable tourism transformation. Turkey’s tourism sector will undergo a three-stage certification process by 2030 in collaboration with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
Digitalization steps in the tourism sector are supporting this green transformation. Talya Bilişim, a pioneer in digital transformation, developed the Elektraweb software to help hotels minimize waste and efficiently manage resources, leading the green shift in tourism.
Nilüfer Durukal, Managing Partner of Talya Bilişim, highlighted that the G20 identified sustainability and digitalization as key pillars for tourism. Elektraweb digitally manages all hotel departments—from front desk to accounting, housekeeping to restaurant, online sales channels to staff and spa management—while optimizing resource use and controlling waste to reduce costs and environmental impact.
Examples include energy savings by controlling air conditioning based on guest check-in and check-out times, eliminating paper use via digital processes (housekeeping updates, e-invoicing), and optimizing food production in buffets to reduce waste without disappointing guests.
The software also offers detailed stock and recipe management, tracking every item with QR codes, and ensuring efficient asset control with minimal cost.
Elektraweb is built on modern web technologies (Angular, Node.js, Java) optimized for Microsoft Azure cloud, offering fast, secure, and user-friendly operation on even low-spec devices without the need for dedicated hardware.
Currently, over 100 hotels worldwide use Elektraweb, benefiting from these sustainability and digitalization features, which also comply with data protection regulations such as KVKK and GDPR.
